Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Gradient Biotech LLC (“Gradient Biotech,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use Gradient Biotech (“the service”).
1. Information we collect
Account and profile information
When you create an account or join an organization, we may collect your name, email address, organization affiliation, role, and authentication credentials or tokens needed to sign you in.
Research and usage data
When you use the service, we process information you provide or generate, including study metadata, dataset descriptions, uploaded files, pipeline parameters, job records, analysis artifacts, annotations, and activity needed to operate reproducible research workflows.
Technical and diagnostic data
We may collect logs and technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, error reports, and performance metrics to secure and improve the service.
2. How we use information
We use collected information to:
- provide, maintain, and secure the service;
- authenticate users and enforce organization access controls;
- run analysis jobs and store results you request;
- maintain provenance, audit trails, and reproducibility records;
- troubleshoot errors and improve reliability and performance;
- communicate about service updates, support, or policy changes;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use Your Content to train general-purpose models for unrelated products unless you explicitly opt in to such use in writing.
3. AI-assisted features
Some workflows may send structured analysis outputs and limited contextual metadata to third-party AI providers to generate research-oriented interpretations. When those features are enabled, we aim to minimize the data transmitted to what is necessary for the request. You should not submit regulated protected health information or other sensitive personal data unless your organization has approved that use and appropriate safeguards are in place.
4. How we share information
We may share information:
- with service providers that help us host, compute, monitor, or support the platform;
- with other members of an organization you belong to, according to workspace permissions;
- when required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request;
- to protect the rights, safety, and security of Gradient Biotech, users, or the public;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
5. Data retention
We retain account, organization, and research metadata for as long as your account or organization relationship is active and as needed to provide the service. Uploaded files and generated artifacts are retained according to workspace settings and operational backup practices unless you delete them or we are required to remove them. We may retain limited records after deletion where needed for security, audit, or legal compliance.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. Organization administrators may control member access and some workspace data. To make a request, contact us using the email below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
8. International users
If you access the service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. By using the service, you acknowledge that protections in those locations may differ from those in your home jurisdiction.
9. Children's privacy
The service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the service. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
